OnRebate.com are fucking crooks

Never buy any merchandize online with a rebate from OnRebate.com.
They're fucking crooks. I bought a DVD burner from TigerDirect.ca with a rebate from OnRebate. They ask that you mail them the original UPC code, which I did. Then they e-mail me to say I forgot to include the UPC code. Now they tell me to send the original UPC code again....

Fuck you assholes! e_e I'm not shopping at these two places again.

I purchased a Fantom hard drive from Buy.com, and it had a rebate through Onrebate. They claim that I did not include an invoice. Well I scanned in the invoice (with the UPC taped onto it) before mailling, so I have proof that they are liars. Funny that they received the UPC and not the invoice. This is obviously a fraudulent company.

Go to The Federal Trade Commision (FTC) and look for a page named
"Taking the Bait out of Rebate"! There is listed the things to do about these bad rebate outfits like Onrebate.
You can file a complaint there, and it being Federal law, you get
quick results!

If you have not received your rebate from onrebate.com/tigerdirect.com please contact me at intenseli20@yahoo.com. I have not received my rebate and it has been a horrible experience. I am hoping to get 25+ people to participate in a class action suit. I already have a lawyer who is involved and believes that we can fight this but there has to be 25 people at the least.
As for my experience...I had contacted them several times through email to which they said that I had to keep waiting longer. They kept pushing the date back further. I sent one last email arguing the date that they had sent me and that the date was longer than what the original disclosure said. I never received a response to this. Weeks later I called in to which I spoke to someone who told me that I should call back on the date he gave me and that if I hadn't received my rebate they would refund my credit card. Believing him, my worries were assured. I called back two weeks later, after the date I was suppose to call, and was put on hold three times for over 2 minutes and on the last time I just hung up. I had the number and name of the employee that I had talked to weeks prior. None of this mattered. Apparently I was told the wrong info. I got put on hold and he gets back on to say that they will expedite my check and that this info will be forwarded to the right dept. I said this was unacceptable and that I had felt that I was being given "the runaround," and that I wanted to speak to the manager he just spoke to. He says hold on. I wait for five min+ yet again and he gets back on and says that she is on lunch. Then I tell him to get someone on the phone. He says I'll get another manager to which I was on hold for 5+ min again and I hung up. Since then I have contacted a lawyer and we are now at this posting. So please if you have not received your rebate then please contact me at intenseli20@yahoo.com a.s.a.p. Thank you for your time. Michelle. 09-21-2006

The Florida Attorney General's offiec uses complaints to develop information about patterns of business activity which might indicate the need for formal investigation or legal action by our office. If a pattern is discovered, what originated as a private dispute between buyer and seller may become a matter of broad public interest and thus warrant the Attorney General's intervention under the state's consumer protection laws. We are forwarding your correspondence to the Attorney General's Economic Crime section for review. What action, if any, this office may take is unknown at this time. Please note this office does not mediate individual complaints.

In the meantime, you may wish to contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC has taken several actions against companies involving rebate-related complaints. The FTC's website provides information about rebate processes and provides further contact information:

ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/rebatealrt.htm

Also, Florida's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Consumer Services (DACS), is the state clearinghouse for all consumer complaints and has a voluntary mediation program to assist individual consumers. You may contact DACS online at:

Or by mail at: 2005 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida 32399. The telephone number is (850) 488-2221 or toll-free from within Florida (800) 435-7352.

As you seek to resolve your individual complaint, you may also wish to contact the following consumer organizations:

bbbsoutheastflorida.org

County Consumer Protection Office
Palm Beach County - Phone: (561) 712-6600

If you need help finding a lawyer, The Florida Bar offers a Lawyer Referral Service which you may contact toll-free at (800) 342-8060.

First thing first, NEVER BUY FOR THE POSTAL OR WHATEVER REBATE. Sorry for the caps but that's a rule everybody should follow. Studies shows that a great percentage of people don't send it so they count on that to make money. Second, Tiger direct is ok by itself. My boyfriend has been a consumer for more than a year now (for about 10 purchase) and he never had a problem with them. Exept for the time they had to bring the stuff from the us... but that's another story. But like I said, stick to the things that dont offer rebate after the purchase and u should be fine :)
