The very fact that Palin is taken seriously at all shows just how far gone our culture is. I knew just as soon as I found out about what she was and how she thought that the only purpose the GOP had in choosing her was to throw the election. To put it in 'scientific' terms: she's a total ditz. Then when it looked like too many people were actually listening to her mindless rantings the GOP had to go out and set up situations where she'd look even worse than she did on her own, and it was still close. Oh, and why did the GOP want to throw the election? They knew they had tanked the economy, and didn't want to be in office when it crashed. From the historical (not voodoo-mathematical) economic perspective look for the following things to happen in the next 5 to 8 years: A sudden 'surprise' shortage of a critical resource will occur, causing a stumble in the recovery effort. Blockage of an attempt to deal with it will be led by the GOP 'for the good of the country'. This will cause greater losses and a downward spiral. This will be used by the GOP as the center of the next election. Either just before or just after the election, a GOP member will convince China to drop some of our debt in trade for other concessions. What happens after that will depend on the concessions required.
Also, the people here wants to get her to become President. We would really have to think about who the hell we want.

The real scary thing is that she was almost a weak, temper tantrum prone heartbeat away from the Presidency. The only reason she was not was that the "Good Christians" draw the line at Mormons - that and decades of handing out Jack Chick's "The Curse of Baphomet" made them give pause when people pointed out their leaders went to Skull and Bones and Bohemian Grove, groups the "Conspiracy Theories" begin where it ends for the Masons and AMORC stuff...
And, she'll have a shot next time. And she's as "Radical Right" as most of us wish Obama was "Radical Left". She'll certainly start wars with the push of a button based on temper and ideology with no care for the consequences.
