Nice burn, Sotomayor

I'm not paying too much attention to the confirmation hearings of Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, because this should be a non-story but for Republicans hyperventilating about Mexicans Atheist Muslim Libruls invadin' 'Murica. So Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) is twisting his panties in a knot like a Catholic school girl over comments Sotomayor made about her latina heritage. Sessions, someone who once made the apology of the KKK, thinks that's racist. That's rich... So Sessions quoted Judge Miriam Cedarbaum, who “believes that judges must transcend their personal sympathies and prejudices.” And Sessions continued:
“So I would just say to you, I believe in Judge Cedarbaum’s formulation,”

That's when Sotomayor pulled a move worthy of Woody Allen's Annie Hall and said:
“My friend Judge Cedarbaum is here. We are good friends, and I believe that we both approach judging in the same way, which is looking at the facts of each individual case and applying the law to those facts.”

For those who've never seen Annie Hall, this is the scene I'm talking about.

Who's never dreamed of doing that?

You mean, they finally let her talk, rather than just have other people yammer on about how she started out so poor?

At least they're talking about something that has to DO with being on the supreme court now, instead of everybodies hard knock stories.
I was following the confirmation at the beginning, but the anti-confirmation peeps all had the same questions, (it seemed) and the pro-confirmation peeps all just seemed to 'answer' by completely changing the subject. And then I stopped paying attention. I can handle only so much BS at a time.

I mean, damnit, I can't even honestly say that any of the crazy bastards (Or bitches, must remember being gender equal!) are any better than any of the others anymore.

The confirmation hearings have pretty much been a farce. It's all agenda and no substance. There hasn't been any actual vetting, just bullshit about her "wise Latina" statement and hot-button issues. At least she's been handling these gibletheads with grace, making them look like the fools they are.

Dude, she's one of the gibletheads too. Pay closer attention.
