Tainted, do the Japanese love French culture?
I'm not sure if they "love" it but I think they're interested in aspects of it. I don't think the influence is as prominent as America's or some other European countries, but I think anything "western" could be considered a hit.
There are French restaurants in Japan so I'd say the food is appreciated. Art is also appreciated and I know there are Japanese travellers wishing to see the Louvre and such.
I believe the French Rococo period has a strong influence in the "lolita" frilly dress sub-culture and fashion trend.
Wish I knew more, but I really don't. Every foreigner I've met in Japan is paid to teach English. The only few I've met who happen to also speak French are Canadians.
I was just asking cuz I've seen a lot of Japanese reference to French culture. Especialy in music.
I honestly know very little about music in any culture :(
