it's RATURDAY!

Ratzi's bath
The dots you see floating in the air are water drops flying in all directions when Ratzi shakes to dry himself like a dog. I snapped the picture just at the right moment by pure chance. Eli and Ratzi don't like to bath, my hands and forearms are all scratched.
Eli's bath
Normally you don't really need to bath rats, but I'v noticed scabs lately on Eli and particularly Ratzi. I think it might be mites or some kind of rat-specific parasite not visible to the eye. They had those scabs when I got them from the pet-shop a year ago. I gave them a bath with a dog shampoo and the scabs seemed to have dissapear, until now. Anyone ever had that problem?

Hmm, anon sounds like an ignorant POS. Anyhow, it's possible it's from fighting. It could also be fleas. Fleas are nasty little creatures. I'd take them to the vet just to be sure, though.

They're flipping cute as usual, too.

It can't be fleas, I would have noticed. The neighbor's dog had fleas at my old place and they're pretty easy to spot.

I'm trying to fix the problem without the vet. I wanna avoid the 200$ bill. :-)

They really don't look like the kind of rats that would fight with each other but I could be wrong. I'd say it's mites insted of them fighting.

It's "play-fight". All rats do that, even the females. I think the object of the game is to bite (not hard) the rump of your opponent.

That sounds like...a very strange game that they play. It also sounds like it would make a funny YouTube video.

Not easy catching them in the act, but I'll try.

Hmm, no flea sightings, and avoiding a vet bill... have you got dandruff shampoo? That might work. If they're itching at it, you could try a cream with cortisone in it.
