Cartoon's birth certificate required
I'm probably a bit late with this news, but Christopher Handley, a manga collector, pleaded guilty to “possession of obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children.” (from Wired) What's special about this case is it's the first time someone is found guilty of possessing child porn without possessing any REAL child porn. Before, when pedos got arrested and lolicon was found in their collection, the reason they were thrown in jail was because they also had REAL child porn in their possession.
Like most laws about pornographie, this is so many kinds of wrong. There's no clear definition of what pornographie is in the law. There's no clear definition of what artistic merit is. What is in good taste and what is not? If you jerk off to the picture above, you're a pedo. If you think this a parody or contemporary art, you're safe. But if a judge or a jury made of puritan suburban trash disagree with you, you're skrewed.

Yeah it's pretty crazy. From what I read the guy's lawyer wasn't particularly into defending him either.
Hopefully for him, since he pleaded guilty he'll get a reduced sentence. But he'll probably have to be registered as a sex offender.
I mean, the charge was “possession of obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children.” He couldn't deny that. His only option would have been to prove that law is unconstitutionnal. Which I believe it is, free speech and all. But try to convince a judge, or even worse, a jury.
From what I read of the story there was some little bit about whether it counted as CP or not depended mostly on the area one lived in. And given that this is the United States of Eagleland where everything is bad for you I don't see how he could have made a case for himself.
Besides the obvious fallacies of a fictional character having an "age", where the only two options the censor has is either to declare the age as "when it was drawn" in which you could jerk it to pictures of Maggie Simpson and all hentai that was less than 18 years old would be banned, or to base the age upon the artist-made biography of the character, which would result in the artist just saying she was 18. But try to explain that to the retards other retards elect in this country... Anyway, isn't 16 legal in many countries other than the US?
Aye, In the UK legal age is 16. Don't know about other countries but that is besides the point. Funny fact time! In Scotland (England,Wales and NI recently changed this) if any animal dies it is counted as a foodstuff! So if your dog happens to die and you happen to stick your penis into it then it is no worse a crime than sticking it into a bowl of jam! Fun!
So technically shouldn't anyone involved in the Simpson's Movie be screwed as well for showing Bart's penis? Seriously wow.
