Another fag bites the dust

Tyler Whitney, the webmaster for the right-wing antigay (and anti-immigrant) Colorado Republican Rep. Tom Tancredo's presidential campaign, has been outed by the Michigan gay paper Between the Lines.
Tyler Whitney is a... hm, how do the kids call it these days? A HOMOSEXUAL? Tyler Whitney is a Republican who likes the cock. A conservative who longs for National-Socialist bukkake. A bigot who wants Karl Rove's pigly dick in his ass.
But if there's nothing wrong with being gay, there's something seriously wrong with being a hypocritical piece of shit in denial like that Whitney guy.
Whitney, an 18-year-old who is a rising star in right-wing Republican circles (perhaps until now), was involved with the Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Michigan State University (in East Lansing) that is now listed as a hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center. [...]

Whitney was handpicked to run a YAF chapter at Western Michigan University by the leader of the MSU chapter, Kyle Bristow. Bristow, who has championed "Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day" and appeared on The O'Reilly Factor, has said that “homosexuality kills people almost to a degree worse than cigarettes… these [pro-gay rights groups] are complicit with murder.” (Michigan Republicans actually defended him after this, something Democrats criticized them for.) Bristow calls gays "deviants" and says he's "against the notion that deviants deserve extra rights."
I don't really understand how these people think. That would be like me being an anti-porn militant. Seriously guy, porn is bad for you, mh'k?

Marché des Arts doodles.

Business wasn't good at all at the Marché des Arts (Art's Market) yesterday, so I didn't go back today (neither will I tomorrow). So that left me a lot of free time to draw. I would have drawn a lot more if the weather wasn't so hot. The street painting went well though. More on that and photos later.

I won't be present at the "Marché des Arts" for the rest of the weekend.

Nuit Blanche sur Tableau Noir UPDATED II

There's an event tonite on Mont-Royal street, East of the Mt-Royal metro station (between St-Hubert et De Lanaudière). A bunch of artists (including me) will be drawing huge 20'x12' feet comic strips on the street during the evening and part of the night. I should be near the corner of Mt-Royal/Chambord. Then, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be an outdoor market where artists will sell their stuff (me; comics). The website doesn't seem to say where it is... :p It might be in the parc near Mt-Royal/Papineau, but I'll post more info when I have it.

20 by 12 feet... jesus fuck, I've never drawn anything on that scale. I hope I can finish before midnite so I'm not stuck taking the night bus. And let's hope it doesn't rain. @_@

UPDATE (June 8, 2AM): Wow, I was one of the few who finished early, but goddamn I'm tired. That was physicaly demanding. I'll have photos later. I don't know if I'll be going to the Marché des Art today (Friday). It'll depend how I feel in the mroning. X_X I'll write an update here.

UPDATE II (June 8 11:45AM): Ya, I'll be going. The "Marché des Arts" will be at the Parc des Compagnons de St-Laurent. That's on Mont-Royal, between Cartier and De Bordeaux (East of Papineau). They will be screening the Corto Maltese movie in the park at 9:30 PM.

Affichage Sauvage

DSCF0003The illustration I made two weeks ago is now on posters in a few places downtown. There's probably more on St-Laurent steet, but I haven't had time to check it out yet. It's the blue one. I think it got pasted over the orange one. hehehe! I don't know how you would say "affichage sauvage" in english, but that's what it is.

I also received my award for 5th place movie for March 07 on Newgrounds. XD

The Bitch, the Lesbian and the Comrad

Damn, I completly forgot about this series. :p I guess since it's been published in french in the MensuHell fanzine, it felt like I was done with it. There's about 40 pages left to be translated in english. The good news (for me) is that all the pages are already scanned.

Frankly, I'll admit this is far from my best work. The dialogues are way too lengthy, the art is botched and at 78 pages it's way too long for nothing. I think I started to work on this episode in 97 or 98. It was sort of prescient of me to involve the Talibans in the story before almost anyone knew who they were. The problem is it wasn't published or online until after 9/11. So it feels a bit dated. And it's only some two years ago that I finished the job after leaving it unfinished for years. By then my visual and narrative style had changed quite a bit. Parts of it, I don't even know what they're about. I guess I smoked a bit more in these days... :p It's also supposed to be an hommage to Corto Maltese by Huge Pratt, I guess.

I've added 3 new pages. I'll add more later. If you need a recap, uh... IIRC Eva is trying to take control of lost nuclear missiles in Siberia to get a ransom from the USA. Eva takes some acid by accident and ends up in 1917 during the October Revolution in Petrograd (St-Petersburg).

Support Miss Dynamite on Wikipedia: UPDATED

UPDATE: Vote for RESTORE here. We need plenty of votes.

Join the discussion here. Please stay civil, no insults.

Give them the reasons why Miss Dynamite is notable (it's even better if you have a Wikipedia account). Miss Dynamite is #1 on Google in front of Ms. Dynamite the singer. And if you search "Miss Dynamite anime" there's no confusion possible with the singer. Miss Dynamite is one of the oldest running series on Newgrounds. The singer never uses "Miss Dynamite", she uses "Ms". They removed all the facts about Todd Goldman's plagiarism, there's articles on Pokémons nobody knows that scroll forever, but just because 3 people didn't know Miss Dynamite they delete it? Here are the prizes won by the Miss Dynamite anime on Newgrounds:

Pu Tang sketch + commercial illustration

Last Thursday I drew a sketch of Pu Tang for Jack Ruttan during the Comic Jam at the Café Utopik (near Berri/UQAM). He scanned it and I colored it quickly in Photoshop today.

Also an illustration (and the correction) for the ad campaign of the summer activities on St-Laurent boulevard. I only had an after-noon to come up with a sketch from the ad agency's (Espresso Com & Design) instructions on Wednesday. The final needed to be done before Friday morning. And on Monday I had only 3 hours to make the corrections. My main problem was the size of the file, 36"x24" at high resolution. The .Psd file was around 150mb and it would take 3 minutes to save (and I have a good computer). There should be a bunch of posters in the streets; I'll try to take photos. If you check the promotional website, there should be a quick "animation" (banner on the right) they made by recycling part of the poster. XD

Iraqi Army working with Moqtada al-Sadr

This kinda reminds me of the last Miss Dynamite anime episode.

This clip dated May 10, 2007 shows soldiers of the Iraqi Army (trained by the Americans) fighting in cooperation with the Mahdi Army of Moqtada al-Sadr (the Mahdi is Shia and we can guess they are unloading their weapons in the direction of Sunnis). The same Mahdi Army who kidnaps and kills US and British soldiers and foreign nationals.
[The cameraman] repeatedly shouts a Shi’ite slogan, “Ali wiyak, Ali,” which means “May Ali be with you,” in reference to the first Shi’ite imam Ali bin Abi Talib, the nephew and son-in-law of the prophet Mohammed, as the gunmen and militiamen spray the street with bullets. In another instance, he shouts “Ali yinusrak ‘ala ahl al Fadhil, al manaweech,” meaning “May Ali grant you victory over the residents of Al-Fadhil, the bastards.”
A militiamen dressed in a tracksuit is seen firing a rocket-propelled grenade in the direction of Fadhil, while an Iraqi soldier toting a PKC machine gun provides cover from behind a concrete bloc. The cameraman then hands over his cell phone to a fellow soldier and says, “Film me while I go shoot a few bullets.” He then fires randomly from behind the concrete bloc, as he screams, “Those Wahhabis, the brothers of whores.”
